Imelda’s father is a millionaire businessman. He and his wife gave their children the best, but also tried to give them a Christian upbringing. But Imelda was a rebellious child, and was constantly at war with both her parents and teachers. After her high school education, she eloped with her lover, a man called Kingsley. She stole six hundred thousand shillings from her father’s home office before she escaped.
But Kingsley was a thug, and he abused her physically and emotionally. Finally, after years of abuse, she gathered courage and escaped, returning to the parents she wronged. Her parents forgave her and took her back. The news that she was pregnant didn’t bother them. She returned to school and earned a degree while working in the family business. She cleaned up her act and became a responsible young woman.
But Kingsley came back into her life, initially using his child to get access. He claimed to have changed, and against her parents’ advice, Imelda took him back. Imelda’s father helped them to establish a business that did well for a while.
But Imelda’s happiness was short-lived, as Kingsley started physically assaulting her again. Imelda was too embarrassed to confide in her parents. Until the day he nearly killed her.
